Can’t-Miss Experiences

Take A Stroll Through Downtown Aspen

Though downtown Aspen is concentrated within a five-block radius, it offers boundless culinary, entertainment, and shopping possibilities. Set amidst the towering Rocky Mountains, this historical town exudes luxurious charm. Its Renaissance Revival architecture is illustrated by the Wheeler Opera House, which is still considered the pinnacle of Roaring Fork Valley’s artistic community. Downtown Aspen is also well-known for its eclectic shopping opportunities. Whether you’re looking for a customized cowboy hat or a new Gucci purse, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Aspen promotes local artisans, with a multitude of boutique jewelry shops and art galleries. If you happen to visit during the summer, don’t miss out on the Saturday Market.

Get Sudsy at Aspen Tap

While you’re wandering about downtown, be sure to check out Aspen’s only microbrewery—Aspen Tap. Part of Aspen Brewing Company’s legacy, this gastropub is a place for locals and visitors to enjoy award-winning beers while enjoying the patio’s breathtaking views. Aside from over a dozen brews on tap, you can also enjoy delicious pub fare, such as the Roaring Fork sourdough pizza or the Brewduh Bowl. If you’re not in the mood for beer, Aspen Tap also offers top-notch wines and mixologist-approved cocktails.

Silver Queen Gondola

You simply cannot visit the Rocky Mountains without seeing Ajax Mountain’s summit. As the world’s longest single-stage gondola, the Silver Queen Gondola will lift you through 3,267 feet of spectacular vistas. After the 15-minute ride, stick around for lunch at the Sundeck Restaurant and breathe in the fresh mountain air. As the gondola operates year-round, there is never a shortage of activities. During the winter, you may choose to snowshoe or ski down one of over 75 paths. In the summer, apart from the multitude of biking and hiking trails, you can also attend a bluegrass concert or pick up your golf clubs.

Hike to Conundrum Springs

If you want to get off the beaten path and truly immerse yourself in the wilderness, lace up your hiking boots for a two-day, 18-mile roundtrip hike. Carving through the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, this is one of the most spell-binding hikes Aspen has to offer. Following along the creek, you’ll trek through fields of wildflowers with alpine springs and jaw-dropping mountain panoramas. You may even stumble upon wildlife, such as deer, moose, and bears (be prepared!). After about nine miles, you’ll come upon Conundrum Springs, where you’ll be rewarded with natural 104-degree pools amidst otherworldly landscapes. After setting up camp (reserve your space ahead of time), enjoy gazing at stars in the endless night sky.

How to Get There

The 200-mile, treacherous drive from Denver can last over four hours with inconvenient winter driving traction laws. Your best bet is flying Jet It and landing at Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, one of the resort town’s seven private airports for jets. Once you arrive at ASE, just three miles from the resort town, we can arrange a personal concierge service for you.
